About massage therapy...

Definitions:

1: ..."a scientific system of manipulations on the muscles and connective tissues of the body for the purpose of relaxation, rehabilitation or health maintenance".

2: "Act or art of treating the body by rubbing, kneading, or the like, to stimulate circulation, increase suppleness, etc".

However it is described, massage can be effective as part of preventative health care, to maintain muscles and joints, to aid in injury recovery and to decrease stress and pain.

Take some time for yourself, away from the stresses and distractions of busy life to enjoy quiet time, and reap the benefits that generations of people have enjoyed.

How you are protected:

Registered Massage Therapists must belong to the College of Massge Therapists of Ontario. The college is answerable to the government and the people of Ontario.

All files pertaining to you and your treatments will remain confidential, except in certain legal situations.

What to expect during your massage:

The type and length of treatment will be determined by you and your therapist before you get on the table. The therapist will not be in the room when you disrobe and get on the table. You will remain covered, except for the area being treated.

When not to have massage:

A thorough case history will be taken before the massage to determine if any modifications need to take place. If, on the day of a scheduled massage, you have an infectious disease or cold, open wounds, a rash, have just had surgery, massage may not be appropriate.
